Introducing Signal Alerts for Website and API Downtime

AlertsDown downtime alert preview on a phone
A verified Signal contact can receive downtime and recovery updates.

Your monitoring alert should reach a place you already check. Signal is now its own AlertsDown contact type, alongside SMS and WhatsApp. Customers on any paid plan can add a Signal number to website, API, SSL, and MCP monitors without setting up an integration URL.

What a Signal alert tells you

When AlertsDown confirms a problem, it dispatches a Signal message to each verified Signal contact attached to that monitor. Website and API downtime alerts include the affected target, detection time, and a dashboard link. SSL and MCP alerts use the same channel for their own monitor details. When an incident recovers, AlertsDown can send a recovery update through Signal as well. You can still check the dashboard for the full incident history.

Set it up in My Contacts

  1. Choose a paid plan that includes Signal and open My Contacts in your dashboard.
  2. Add Signal as a contact and enter the phone number you use with Signal, including its country code (for example, +352621123456).
  3. Enter the six-digit verification code sent to you in Signal. An unverified number cannot receive monitor alerts.
  4. Send a test notification, then attach the verified contact to the website, API, SSL, or MCP monitor you want it to cover.

Add and verify each recipient separately. This channel sends to individual Signal contacts, not Signal groups.

Plans and delivery

Signal is included on every paid AlertsDown plan; it is not part of the Free plan. Your plan's monitor and notification limits still apply. Signal requires an internet connection on the receiving device. A successful send means AlertsDown handed the message to the delivery service, not that a person saw it immediately. For critical incidents, consider adding another alert channel that fits your on-call process.

Start with one monitor

Choose a monitor you care about, verify your Signal contact, attach it, and send a test. Visit the Signal alerts feature page for the channel overview or compare current plans before adding it to more monitors.
